Lily’s Story
Lily Cummings is an award-winning multimedia journalist and reporter. Right now, she’s a reporter and fill-in anchor at WWL-TV (Channel 4) in New Orleans.
Previously, she was the nightside reporter for KTUL-TV (NewsChannel 8) in her hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She won a Heartland Emmy for her work during the Tulsa Race Massacre Centennial.
Lily completed prestigious internships while in college including CBS This Morning: Saturday and WDSU-TV.
While in undergrad, Lily worked on the assignment desk for WWL-TV and held multiple jobs. Lily covered the Hard Rock Hotel collapse and assisted WWL-TV with coverage of Mardi Gras 2020. She was an on-air reporter and anchor for the award-winning Loyola Maroon in addition to being the executive producer of The Maroon's daily student-run newscast, The Maroon Minute.
In college, Lily was the first Loyola New Orleans student to win a Hearst Award. She placed 7th nationally in the TV News category. This was an esteemed honor on top of others from SPJ, the LA-MS AP News Editors and the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters. At the end of her senior year, Lily was chosen as the recipient of the Bonomo Award which is given to the top communication graduate every year at Loyola.
She received her B.A. in Mass Communication with a focus in journalism from Loyola University New Orleans with Magna Cum Laude distinction and Honors. She obtained her Master of Studies in Law from the University of Southern California while working as a reporter full-time.
